EACH YEAR, ENOUGH WOOD IS BURNED IN SLASH PILES TO HEAT EVERY HOME
IN MONTANA, IDAHO, AND WYOMING — COMBINED.
HEAT HOMES INSTEAD
Without us, this wood is burned as waste. With your help, it heats homes.

New Equipment, Bigger Impact
We’re excited to announce that, thanks to a generous grant from Alliance for Green Heat and support from the Town Pump Charitable Foundation, The Little Woodbank has invested in a new Tajfun RCA 400 JOY firewood processor.
This machine enables us to process logs up to 16” diameter (40 cm) and cut them to lengths of 25–50 cm—the perfect size for household firewood use.
With this upgrade, we will:
- Increase our capacity to turn low-value wood and restoration by-products into clean, usable firewood.
- Improve volunteer safety and efficiency—this processor has joystick controls, an automatic clutch system, and a safer infeed and splitting mechanism.
- Expand our reach to more households in need by freeing up time and resources for distribution rather than just processing.
Because we do not sell firewood, this new equipment is a critical lever that helps stretch donated and volunteer resources.
Thank you to our partners and funders for helping us make this step. With the Tajfun RCA 400 JOY online, we are in a stronger position than ever to fulfill our mission of diverting waste wood, reducing fuel loads, and providing warmth and community support throughout northern Montana.

COMMUNITY PARTNERS
Community partners are the boots on the ground. These are the churches, food banks, veteran groups, local businesses, and nonprofits who help us identify families in need, serve as pickup locations, host workdays, and spread the word. We couldn’t reach the people we do without them.
If your organization wants to get involved, we’re always open to new partnerships. To learn more click the link below.
